@ Home With A Sunda Woodpecker Thursday , April 23, 2003 A special visitor came flying in out of the blue This is a Sunda Woodpecker otherwise known as the Brown Capped Woodpecker It can be found through out South East Asia, residing in mangrove forests and, in some cases, neighbourhood parks or in the urban jungle. It is the smallest woodpecker found locally. This is a female woodpecker. The males have a distinct red patch behind the eyes. Its diet consist of insects and worms found in dead wood. What a beauty!
